Old Man’s Night

Sorry for my super slow pace posting… again I was out of Bali about 2 weeks.

Well, you might have known already or even some of you might have tried already, finally we have new Starbucks coffee in our Canggu area. I just surprised to see so many customers were enjoying their coffee break at the terrace when I passed the street Starbucks few days ago.

This week we had friends from Jakarta, so we hang out together at Old Man’s, one of famous icon of Canggu area.

Actually I have several times visited this cozy surfer café/bar but always around late afternoon or early evening to catch the beautiful sunset, so eventually this was my first time to hit the night time and…it’s amazing!! Totally changed from the relax atmosphere at the sunset, it turned to be fashionable open-air club. It was middle of the week, Wednesday night though, so crowded by happy people, people and people with bottles of bintang beer/wine glasses on their hands.

Most of the gathering people were “Bule”(foreigners, especially people from Europe) and it made me felling as if I tripped to the beach on somewhere in Europe by accident. If you ask “Hi, where are you from?” definitely you will get variety of countries name at once.

If you like to enjoy international atmosphere, visit there at night (I arrived around 22:30 p.m.), if you like to enjoy beautiful sunset at Canggu, come more earlier time.

せっかく引っ越してきたばかりのバリ島なのに、また２週間程島から離れていました。

ブログの更新が超スローペースで申し訳ないです。

そうそう、とうとうCangguにもスターバックスがオープンしましたね！

昨日帰り道にスタバの前を通ると、もうすでにたくさんのお客さんで溢れていて、改めてスタバブランドの強さを確信しました。

さて、今週はジャカルタから友人が遊びに来ていたので、Cangguの今やアイコンであるOld Man’sで待ち合わせをしました。

実は私、いつもOld Man’sに来るのはサンセット時だったので、夜に行くのは初めてだったのですが、行ってみてびっくり！夕暮れ時のあのゆったりとした雰囲気とは一転、おしゃれなオープンエア・ナイトクラブに大変身していました。平日水曜日の夜だと言うのに、店の前の通りまで、ビール、グラスを片手にした人がいっぱい。集っている人のほとんどが海外から来ているため、一瞬インドネシアではなくて、どこかヨーロッパのビーチにトリップしてしまったんじゃないかと錯覚してしまうほど。挨拶代わりの「どこから来たの？」で当分会話を楽しめますな。

インターナショナルな雰囲気が大好きな人はぜひ夜に（私が２２時３０分頃到着したときには、既に人でいっぱいでした）、のんびり美しいチャングのサンセットを楽しみたい人はぜひ夕方に出かけてみてください。
